There is, indeed, “strength in numbers”. That’s why we’re proud to announce that our golden lager has once again partnered up with the Golden State! For the second year in a row, we’re offering up six-packs of Anchor California Lager in exclusive limited-edition Warriors packaging to help cheer our Dubs to victory!
Anchor Brewing and the Golden State Warriors share some of that strength in numbers. For instance, 1971: The year the Warriors became the Golden State Warriors, and the year Anchor Brewing began bottling its flagship beer, Anchor Steam. Like the Warriors, Anchor has always depended on the support and loyalty of our incredible fans in California and beyond.
“We have always been huge fans and we’re thrilled to continue our partnership with the Golden State Warriors,” said President and CEO of Anchor Brewing, Matt Davenport. “Our number is two—that’s how many years California Lager has proudly carried Golden State Warriors packaging, and how many years until we get to call the Warriors neighbors in San Francisco. We hope Warriors fans will enjoy cheering on the home team with this limited edition Anchor California Lager.”
Our roots go back to the Gold Rush, long before icehouses and modern refrigeration made traditional lagers a viable option in California. In 1876, thanks to an ice pond in the mountains and a belief that anything is possible in the Golden State, a little brewery named Boca created California’s first genuine lager. In 2013, we introduced Anchor California Lager as a revival of this historic beer.
“Anchor Brewing has thoughtfully brought our Strength in Numbers campaign to life with this creative and Warriors-centric packaging,” said Warriors Chief Marketing Officer Chip Bowers. “The Warriors and Anchor Brewing both have a deep connection to California and the Bay Area; this is a fun way for fans of both brands to celebrate the team and our mutual love for California.”
The 2018 limited-edition packaging reflects the Warrior’s logo, a span of the iconic San Francisco—Oakland Bay Bridge, in their signature yellow and blue colors. Fans can find it from January-June 2018 and again from October-December 2018 in six-pack bottles in the extended Bay Area, including Alameda County, Contra Costa County, San Francisco County, Marin County, Merced County, Monterey County, Napa County, San Benito County, San Joaquin County, San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, Santa Cruz County, Solano County, Sonoma County, and Stanislaus County. Find a brew near you by using the Anchor Beer Finder. Headed to the game? A variety of Anchor beers are also available at the Oracle Arena — home to our Golden State Warriors!
